Jan Matthews, the woman charged with running the biggest catering operation in peacetime history at this summer’s London Olympics, is set to headline this year’s Packaging for Retail Success conference
|
Matthews, who is head of catering, cleaning and waste services for the Games, will discuss the challenges to product development and packaging that the Olympics brought and will share valuable insights from the Games. She will headline a programme of speakers from a range of top brands, retailers and researchers discussing the role of packaging in building brand identity, connecting with consumers and driving sales. Packaging for Retail Success, whose headline sponsor this is DS Smith Packaging, launched last year as a joint venture between Packaging News and the Quality Food Awards – the UK’s leading awards programme for new product development in food and drink. Speakers at last year’s event included representatives of retailers, brands, research agencies, design agencies and packaging suppliers including Sainsbury’s, Coca-Cola, Amy’s Kitchen and Mira Showers. Josh Brooks, Packaging News brand director and chair of the conference, said: “It’s a real coup for us to have Jan speaking at this event and I am sure her insights on the Olympic project will be enlightening for anyone involved in food and drink. The event will take place on 8 November at the Grosvenor House hotel on Park Lane, London ahead of the Quality Food Awards in the same venue that evening.
